Action Community Services is a community-based organisation that was established to provide a wide range of individual-focused services and approaches to National Disability Insurance Scheme participants, their families, and loved ones.
To help ensure we are always meeting the needs of the people we work with daily, we have strict brand values that we follow implicitly. These brand values help define the type of organisation we want to be and ensure we are doing our best to create not just a community for people with disabilities but a tribe with a strong connection that could be likened to a family.
TRUSTWe firmly believe that trust is crucial. This value describes the guarantee that we will always speak the truth to our customers and will not try to deceive or trick them. This often means making hard decisions, owning up when we make mistakes, and taking full responsibility for our words and actions. As opposed to looking to shift blame elsewhere. We know too well that a trustworthy organisation is one that people want to work with because they know they will be transparent and honest, even when it might be easier to do the opposite. For NDIS participants and those closest to them, this trust is crucial. | RESPECTThere have been times when people with disabilities did not get the respect they deserved as human beings. Often individuals and organisations would treat them differently than able-bodied people. We take this very seriously at Action Community Services and strive to ensure we are always respectful to people, despite the disabilities and hardships they may have to deal with in life. For us, we must be consistently thoughtful and mindful and consider the wants, needs and rights of others. We also like to hear from the NDIS participants we work with – to hear their opinions and those held by their loved ones. |
INCLUSIONIn line with the above, another problem people with disabilities have faced over the years is feeling excluded due to their circumstances. As advocates for our customers, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that Action Community Services is an organisation that promotes inclusion rather than exclusion. This means meeting people halfway and treating them like individuals that matter. We want all our customers to feel valued and respected and part of something bigger, to help them better deal with their disabilities and the issues they face. | BELONGINGAll of our brand values are interconnected; therefore, it is not surprising that we consider the concept of belonging extremely important. While many of the individuals and business that collaborate with us to provide services participants accessing the NDIS need to be paid, as it is their job, it is vital that they do not act in a way that suggests that is the only reason they are doing it. For us, this line of work and the services we provide are vocational, and we do what we do because we want to enrich the lives of the disabled people and their families that we work with. Often, they can feel shoved to the side and not a valued part of society, which is why we make an effort to ensure they feel part of something bigger and belong with others like them. |
EQUALITYIf there was one brand value integral to the others and everything we do as an organisation, it’s equality. We want to empower individuals so that no matter what they look like, how they act, or the conditions they suffer from, they are still treated equally to able-bodied individuals. That often means putting in time and effort to ensure they can enjoy a similar life experience to others. |
